Lake County Junior Historical Society

This group is open to all junior high and high school students in Lake County. The purpose of this group is to involve and engage students in museum activities and acquaint them with the rich traditions of Lake County. We offer free use of our facilities to members including artifacts, books, and records for study in local history. Memberships must be renewed yearly.

Oral History Project

The Lake County Historical Society is always looking for people with stories to share about Lake County, and the residents who have had an impact on this community. Those who lived through historical events, and experienced them first hand are the best history teachers. The Youth Education Department has interview guides, resources, and equipment necessary to help students of all ages gather an oral historical record from anyone with a story to share. We will then archive this interview in our records for future generations.

In conjunction with The Library of Congress, the Veterans History Project aims to collect the stories of any soldier or civilian who served in the military during any war or conflict in our Nation's history. Students are encouraged to contact The Lake County Historical Society or the Library of Congress to obtain an interview packet, and register the interview. These stories will then be archived at the Library of Congress and the Lake County Historical Society.
