The P.K. Smith Research Library houses the records of some of Lake County’s significant families. Family documents and diaries are part of our collection. Here is a sample of some of our specialized indexes:

We have some very small indexes of births and divorces. Our main collection is found in our Archival Boxes of families of Lake County. Here is a sample listing:

The Deed Book for records prior to 1840 when Lake County was part of Trumbull and Geauga counties can help you locate where families lived and what property was owned. The Census books for those early Lake County years are another valuable tool used to trace your family here in the county.
